Position Title: HR Generalist
Department: Human Resources
Status: Non-Exempt
Grade: DOE
Reports to: Director of Human Resources

 

Position Summary

The HR Generalist is responsible for the coordination of human resource activities for the commercial enterprises to include various employment steps, employee relation issues, personnel maintenance, policy interpretation, benefits communication, and coordination of training.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Works with hiring managers to determine staffing needs.
Screens resumes, interviews candidates, by phone or in person, administers background check and drug screen, performs reference checks, and makes recommendations for hire.
Manages application/resume file retention.
Designs and conducts new employee orientations including benefits overview for Commercial Enterprises.Works to resolve employee relation issues and coordinates the termination process.Provides input on, and assists with company policies, procedures, and documentation for Commercial including employee handbook
Coordinates attendance issues, including tracking the point system for Commercial Enterprise employees.
Maintains employee personnel files and other personnel forms.
Processes employee status change forms.
Maintains employee records in HRIS system including but not limited to New Hire, Termination, Job and Pay changes.
Handles all unemployment claims with Employment Security.
Other duties as assigned.

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

Knowledge of multiple human resource disciplines.
Knowledge of employment laws.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
Strong organization skills.
Ability to analyze data and provide recommendations.
Working knowledge of Tribes and Tribal enterprises preferred.
Proficient in computer and software programs
  
Work Environment

The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job.  

The worker is frequently subject to inside environmental conditions, which provide protection from weather conditions, but not necessarily from temperature changes, and is subject to outside environmental conditions and to wet and/or humid conditions. The noise level in the work environment is usually low to moderate.

 

Physical Demands

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

Frequently involves sedentary work.
Occasionally involves light work: exerting up to 20 pounds of force and/or up to 10 pounds of force and/or negligible amount of force to move objects.
Occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
Constantly requires the ability to give and receive detailed information through verbal communication.
Constantly requires working with fingers rather than the whole hand or arm.
Constantly requires repetitive movement of the wrists, hands and/or fingers.
Often requires walking or moving about to accomplish tasks.
Occasionally requires standing and/or sitting for sustained periods of time.
Occasionally requires ascending or descending stairs or ramps using feet and legs and/or hands and arms.
Occasionally requires raising objects from a lower to a higher position or moving objects horizontally.
Occasionally requires stooping which entails the use of the lower extremities and back muscles.  Infrequently requires crouching.
Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, and the ability to adjust focus.

Position Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent required, BA degree preferred.
Minimum of two years’ experience as a Human Resources Generalist required.
PHR or SPHR preferred.
Visibility requires maintaining a professional appearance and providing a positive company image to the public.
Must pass pre-employment background check and drug screen.
WA State Driver license and ability to be approved by Tribal insurance to drive Tribal vehicles if applicable.

Travel Requirements

Local travel is frequently required.  
Travel outside of the state is infrequently required.
